The Best Entertainment For Road Tips

Road trips have the potential to be extremely fun, but they can also turn into long, boring nightmares. There are plenty of ways you can entertain yourself and your travel companions while on the open road, but sometimes it’s hard to come up with something in the spur of the moment when you have little for inspiration besides the monotonous landscape slowly passing by. Here are a few ideas to help ensure your road trip this summer is as entertaining as possible.

Games For The Drive

The best way to keep busy and entertained in a cramped little car is to play classic road trip games like I spy, 20 Questions or ABC category games that test everyone’s knowledge of a specific subject. For instance, choose a category such as things ‘Things Vegetarians Can’t Eat’ and then have everyone takes turns saying an answer that corresponds with each letter of the alphabet, i.e. “Aardvarks; Baboons; Catfish.” You can make up your own categories or variations depending on the age group and interests of your passengers.

Karaoke To-Go

Music is a great way to pass the time, especially if everyone on the road trip enjoys the same bands. If it’s nice out, roll down the windows and sing out loud to your favourite songs; road trips are awesome because even if you’re a terrible singer, anyone who hears you will likely never see you again (except for the people in the car with you!)

Audiobooks or Group Stories

If you are a creative bunch, try creating group stories where each person says one word to add to the storytelling. It’s a completely collaborative game that usually results in something that sounds ridiculous, but it’s a great way to kill some time and bond with your travel buddies. If you don’t feel like making up your own story, purchase an audiobook to listen to for part of the drive.
